A Buschwhacker is a Winston Cup driver that races in a Busch series event. Personally I’m tired of seeing good drivers go home because they couldn’t get into the race because there were too many Winston Cup (WC) drivers. Just last weekend at Charlotte, the CARQUEST Auto parts 300; there were nine WC drivers in the field. Which meant that six Busch series drivers had to go home.

You’ve got these up and coming drivers, who are trying their hardest to advance their racing careers by getting into the Busch series and maybe in the future, getting into WC as well. Well, you can’t do that if you can’t get into the race, because a WC driver wants to race also; and since the WC driver has all of the best materials, resources, notes, etc; they have no problem getting into the race. Now you have this team that spent all their money building their car in a backyard garage, getting it to the track and paying the entry fee, Hoping to get a sponsor so they can enter more races; just to turn around and go home. Now that’s just not right.

Personally, I think there should be two qualifying events. The first for the Busch drivers. If there are thirty-five Busch drivers that show up to qualify, there will be thirty-five Busch drivers in the race. No Busch driver will go home. As a result, if there are nine Buschwhackers are trying to get into the race, The Buschwhackers would have their own qualify event for thirty-six through forty-three. Which would mean that two WC drivers would go home. That seems fair to me.

Buschwhackers aren't racing for points or a championship, they’re there simply because they want the money, no other reason. So they’re stealing championship points away from people. They already have an established team in the WC series they don’t really care about the Busch race.

In conclusion, it just not fair that an up and coming Busch driver can’t compete and have to go home, because Matt Kenseth, Michael Waltrip, Jeff Burton, Kevin Harvick, Dale Jr., etc, want to race. If Buschwhackers want to race, they should wait until Sunday or, if there’re not enough Busch drivers for a full field, they fill up the spots at the back.
